Discussion Questions

  1. Why is it so important for Luke to establish Jesus’ innocence before He goes to the cross?

  2. The religious leaders and crowd fully embrace sin to the point that they lie and twist the truth to see that Jesus was killed. How did they get that point? Like the religious leaders, can Christians today fall into a similar trap? How can we get to that point? Is there any way to prevent it? If so, how?

  3. What were your thoughts on Pontius Pilate before hearing this sermon? Now after this sermon, has your view of him changed at all? If so, how? Also, how does knowing what kind of man he was impact your view of Jesus’ innocence?

  4. Although declaring Jesus innocent, Pilate and Herod passively neglect and mock Jesus. How could that happen? Although we can’t see Jesus face to face today, can we passively neglect and mock Him? What does that look like, and what should our response be to it?

  5. What does having Jesus’ innocence mean to you? How will you live in light of knowing you have His innocence?
