Discussion Questions

  1. Why do you think God uses simple ordinary people to carry out His great eternal plan of deliverance?  What role do you have in God’s plan of redemption?
  1. Throughout the Bible we read of godly mothers like Jochebed, Hannah and Mary who understood that their children belonged more to God than they did to them.  Why is it important for Christian parents to realize this timeless truth and how can they practically live it out? What fears might make this a hard thing to do?

  2. The role of caring for and raising children is a noble and important endeavor that should never be taken lightly. Why do you think our society undervalues the role of mothers?  From God’s perspective, what do you think is the primary role of mothers?

  3. As we see in the first two chapters of Exodus, God’s sovereign plan of redemption for the nation of Israel was hinged upon five women, Shiphrah, Puah, Jochebed, Miriam, and Pharaoh’s daughter, who loved and cared for children. The caring for children can come in many forms.  What are some ways you can love and care for children even if they are not your own?  Why is this so important?
