Sermon Discussion Questions

  1. Think about the present trials and tribulations we face in our world today with a global pandemic, political unrest, rising inflation, social turmoil and international threats - where, or to what do you think the unbelieving world turns, to find a sense of peace and security, and how successful do you think they are at finding true peace?
  2. In spite of Israel’s sin, Isaiah prophesied of a coming salvation that would bring light to darkness and fill God’s people with joy and gladness.  What does this tell you about God’s love and mercy towards His people?  How has God shown His love and mercy to you personally, and how does this give you peace?
  3. Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would be born into the world and that He would be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  Which of these names has the most significance for you and why?
  4. The kingdom of God will be established and upheld with justice and righteousness for all eternity.  Why is it important for Christians to focus on the Kingdom of God and to live with an eternal perspective?
