Discussion Questions

  1. Psalm 126 extols the Lord for delivering the nation of Israel and restoring their fortunes to them. Although originally written for Israel, how does this Psalm still relate to God’s people today? In what way have you been delivered and your fortunes restored?
  2. In our sermon we heard that Israel’s response to this great deliverance was with extreme shock, ecstatic joy, and enthusiastic confession. How does this response cause you to re-evaluate your own response to your salvation?
  3. Why do you think people sometimes forget how great a salvation God has provided for us? What do we fail to understand when our response to our salvation is rejection, boredom, or entitlement?
  4. If Christians truly understood and saw with crystal clear vision how truly wonderful their eternal salvation is, how would this impact the way they live? How would it affect their joy? Their suffering? Their plans and priorities?
  5. In our sermon we heard that anything we do to sow spiritual godly seed will be difficult and come with weeping. Do you agree with this? Why or why not? Why do you think it is so hard to sow seed in the Lord’s fields?
