Passage: Luke 11:37–44

Click here for the sermon discussion questions or see them listed below. We highly encourage you to listen, think, and talk about the sermon. These are questions you can reflect on by yourself, with your family, or with your small group.

Discussion Questions

  1. What do you think of Jesus, an invited guest, pronouncing woe after woe upon his host?  Would you ever do such a thing?  Why or why not?  What does Jesus’ behavior tell you about His love and concern for sinful people?
  2. Jesus was never afraid to associate with the most sinful people of His day, yet He never condoned or participated in their sin.  What lessons can we learn from Jesus’ example?
  3. Why do you think Jesus reserved his harshest condemnation for the religious morally conservative people of His day? (Be sure to consider the “whole cup” in your response)
  4. In what ways can Christians in the church today major on the minors and minor on the majors?  What do you think a “me centered” religion looks like?  What is the danger of this kind of religion?
