Discussion Questions

  1. Why is it difficult to live in anticipation of Christ’s second coming?  What are some things that distract Christians from being “ready” for Jesus’ return?
  2. When the glorified Christ returns, Luke says He will dress Himself to serve, have us recline at table, and then come to serve us!  Does this surprise you?  Why or why not?
  3. For many, Christ’s return will not be pleasant. Why would this be so?
  4. How we live our lives reveals whether or not we are ready and eagerly anticipating Christ’s return.  How should a person who is looking forward to Christ’s return live?  For such people, how should they view God’s Word and His Church?
  5. According to Luke what is the fate for those who claim to be Christian, and know Christ is returning, but still live as though He will never return?  Why do you think it is so important for Christians to live with great anticipation, focus, and readiness for Jesus’ return?
