Discussion Questions
- In our passage this week, why do you think Jesus uses the imagery of a great banquet to describe the coming Kingdom of God?
- What is required for a person to one day participate in the great banquet?
- Look at the excuses given in verses 18-20. What do these excuses tell you about the priority these people put on God and His invitation? In your opinion, will the person who constantly makes these excuses sit at Jesus’ future banquet?
- Why do you think the kingdom of God is going to be filled with the poor, crippled, blind, and lame? Figuratively speaking, who do you think are the poor, crippled, blind, and lame?
- Why is it that the most religious people of Jesus’ day were the very ones who would NOT be at God’s banquet? Do you think the same can be said today of very religious people? Why or why not?
