Discussion Questions

  1. The first part of verse 1 states "If then you have been raised with Christ...". What does it mean to be raised with Christ?

  2. Knowing we have been raised with Christ, Paul then gives two distinct commands for Christians to put their efforts. What are those commands?

  3. In order for us to set our minds on the things above (heaven) we need to un-set them on the things below (not on the things of earth). What is it that takes your mind off of Christ? What is it that focuses our eyes downward (distractions)?

  4. What are things that the world spends time seeking? What things might be tempting for you to seek?  How do we make sure we are different than the world and seeking heavenly things?

  5. Three practical applications to help us in our pursuit of living out these commands: Pray continually, Read habitually, Be at church regularly. Which of these is the most difficult for you to apply to your life? How are ways you can improve in the area you may feel weakest?
