Witnesses To the End of the Earth

September 1, 2024 Preacher: Dan Wong Series: Acts

Passage: Acts 1:6–11

Click here for the sermon discussion questions or see them listed below. We highly encourage you to listen, think, and talk about the sermon. These are questions you can reflect on by yourself, with your family, or with your small group.

Discussion Questions:

  1. In Acts 1:6, the disciples ask Jesus when He is going to restore the kingdom to Israel.  What kind of kingdom were the disciples expecting Jesus to restore?  Were the disciples foolish and ignorant for believing that Jesus would do such a thing?  Explain.

  2. Explain how the disciples showed that it is possible to believe in God strongly, but at the same time have too narrow of a view of all that Jesus can and will do.  In what ways do Christians do the same today?

  3. What is the extent and scope of the kingdom of God that Jesus came to restore?  What does He expect from His disciples to bring about His kingdom?  Is this an unrealistic goal? Explain your answer.

  4. What are some simple practical steps you can take to start sharing the gospel and begin the process of becoming a witness for Jesus Christ?

  5. The disciples were looking for Jesus to provide a practical solution to free their nation from Roman rule.  In similar fashion, Joni Erickson Tada prayed to the Lord to heal her broken body after the tragic accident that left her a quadriplegic.  In both situations, the Lord had a much bigger goal to accomplish.  Think about your own suffering and struggles. In what way have you put a ceiling on God’s power and purpose in your life?  How does becoming a witness for Christ help to change your perspective on your trials and tribulations?
