Sermon Discussion Questions:

1. Think about your mom.  What are some of the positive ways she impacted your life and made you the person you are today?  How was your mom’s influence on you different from your dad’s?  

2. For a Christian mom, it goes without saying that the greatest gift you can leave your children is a sincere faith in Christ.  If this is indeed the case, why is it so hard to leave them such a gift; what are the challenges that can make this so difficult?

3. What are some practical ways we can help our children bind God’s word on their hearts and tie them around their necks?  What does that look like in everday 21st century living?

4. How does a mom’s (a parent’s) word act in a similar way to God’s word in guiding our children, in guarding their hearts, and in acting as a true friend to them? 

5. Why is discipline, reproof and correction such a key part of love?  Why is it sometimes hard to do?  How do you think a parent can balance correction and rebuke with encouragement and love?

1. Sometimes sermons on the high call of parenting can make mothers/fathers feel guilty and remorseful.  If this is the case, how does the Gospel and the sovereignty of God give us real practical hope?
