Click here to see the sermon discussion questions or see them listed below. We highly encourage you to listen, think, and talk about the sermon. These are questions you can reflect on by yourself, with your family, or with your small group.

Sermon Discussion Questions:

1. In your own words, what is the glory of God?  Why is it important for Christians to contemplate and discuss the glory of God?

2. Willio Destin gave us five ways that we can glorify God. Think about each one and answer the following questions.

a) We glorify God by praying like Paul.

Notice what Paul prays for in Ephesians 3:14-19 (see below).  How does Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians compare to your prayers for your family and friends?  How do you think God is glorified in Paul’s prayer?

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”  (Ephesiand 3:14-19)

b) We glorify God by knowing God.

Why would knowing God better help us to glorify God more? (Try to think of specific examples of God’s attributes.)  How do you grow in your knowledge of God?

c) We glorify God by being Sanctified.

We are sanctified, made to be more like Jesus Christ, by the power and work of the Holy Spirit.  If that is true, then what is your role in your sanctification?  Try to think of specific examples.  How can we hinder the Holy Spirit’s work of sanctification in our lives?

d) We glorify God by being the church.

How can you, as an individual, “be the church”?  What role does each member play in the church?  How can we do better at being the church?  Would this make our church stronger?  Explain.

e) We glorify God by being mindful of eternity.

What do you think it means to have an eternal perspective?  Why is it more glorifying to God when we live more mindful of eternity?  Why don’t we live more mindful of eternity?
