Sermon Discussion Questions:

1. Throughout the book of Acts we see the power of a sovereign God building His church. Knowing it is God who builds His kingdom, what should our attitude be towards strategizing, plannin and preparing for long range goals for the church?  Does this also apply to our personal lives? Explain.

2. Is God responsible for every missed career opportunity, failed relationship, rained out game, missed flight, broken water pipe and red light that make us late for an appointment?  Why do we blame God when such things happen, and why do you think He allows them to happen?

3. Why shouldn’t children be given whatever they want and why is it important for parents to limit or even withhold access to everything the child may want?  Ultimately, what are we trying to teach our children and why is it so important they learn this at a young age?

4. What does it mean to subordinate our agenda before God and why is this absolutely critical when it comes to the Christian life?

5. Why is it so important for Christians to ‘feel’ as well as understand intellectually, that unbelievers are perishing and are doomed to an eternity of suffering in hell?  What do you think Paul felt when he saw the vision of the man from Macedonia pleading for his help?

6. It’s easy to feel the need and even cry over the desperate plight of others, but much harder to act on those needs.  Are you quick to obey God’s leading just as Paul, Silas and Timothy were when they were called to Macedonia?  If so, share an example and explain your actions.  If no, why not?

7. When Paul arrived in Macedonia, the Jews were so few that there was no synagogue in which he could preach the good news.  So Paul goes to the river where he meets and preaches to a small group of women. From these women would come Paul’s first European converts.  Later Paul would write his epistle to these converts at the church of Philippi. What should this teach us about why obedience to God’s leading is so crucial, even when it doesn’t make sense to us?  Describe a time in your life when God did something similar
