Sermon Discussion Questions:
1. Do you think Peter denied Jesus three times because he didn’t believe He was the Messiah and Savior of the world? Explain. Do you know people who once claimed to be Christian but are now living as unbelievers? What do you think causes sincere God-fearing people to turn away from Jesus? Would you ever turn away from Christ? How do you know?
2. Peter boasted that even if everyone else turned away from Jesus, he never would, why do you think he was so self confident? Is having self confidence always wrong? What should we learn from Peter’s self confidence?
3. What does it mean to be broken by our sin? How does brokenness lead to blessing? Second Corinthians 7:10 says, “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.” What is the difference between godly grief and worldly grief?
4. In our sermon we heard “one of the most important things we should learn from Scripture is what a Christian actually looks like”. How does a genuine Christian respond when they sin? Conversely, how does a pseudo (fake) Christian respond to their sin? How do you respond to your sin?
5. What did Peter know/learn about the grace of God that Judas did not? Do you think it’s easy or hard to accept the grace of God? When was the last time you sat in mournful sorrow over your sin? Describe what that was like.
