- From a Christian’s perspective, Governor Felix wasted a golden opportunity to come to faith and be discipled by the Apostle Paul. Why do you think Felix could not understand the mistake he was making, even though he had a ‘rather accurate knowledge of the Way’? Have you ever missed an opportunity for the same reason? Explain.
- Why do you think it can feel comfortable, safe and secure in our indecisiveness and procrastination? When might ‘kicking the can down the road’ (ie. putting things off until later) be a good thing? When is it bad?
- Paul (like Jesus and John the Baptist before him) never shied away from speaking of God’s righteousness and the coming judgment whenever he preached the gospel. Why is it absolutely necessary to speak of the holiness of God as well as sin’s horrifying consequences when we share the good news with unbelievers?
- As a result of Paul’s preaching, Felix is alarmed (the Greek word émphobos suggests being locked in a state of fear; in the grip of a fearful state of mind.) What do you think causes this fear and is this a good or bad thing for Felix? How does he respond in v.25?
- Do you know people who were at one time interested in Christianity, perhaps they even came to church and read a bible, but never put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ? Even if you don’t know someone like this, what do you think kept them from believing and being saved? Do you think it is now easier or harder for that person to be saved? Explain.
- Even Christians procrastinate and put things off to tomorrow instead of dealing with them today. How have you been guilty of this in the past? Currently, what are you putting off to tomorrow that needs to be addressed today? What will you do about it
