Discussion Questions
- Are equity and fairness good things, and if so, do you agree with our sermon’s premise that we should pursue an “unfair love”? Why or why not? What do you think “transactional love” means?
- Most of us think we are loving individuals, but are we truly? How does sin impact our perception of ourselves and why is it important to really know what is going on in our hearts?
- Look at v.15 & 16. What do these verses say about our attitude towards Christ when we fail to “love unfairly”?
- Jesus washing filthy feet shows us that love can be costly; it is often dirty and sacrificial, and is not something we inherently want to do. What are some examples of “foot washing” activities in your own relationships? (Feel free to be as general or as specific as you feel comfortable sharing)
- Why should we pursue an unfair love? What benefit is there for me when I wash the feet of the Judas in my life? How do you think God views these acts of unfair love?
