Click here for the sermon discussion questions or see them listed below. We highly encourage you to listen, think, and talk about the sermon. These are questions you can reflect on by yourself, with your family, or with your small group.

Discussion Questions

  1. What is the worst world event that has occurred in your lifetime?  What is the worst personal event that has occurred in your life?
  2. Imagine Peter’s horror on the day he witnessed Jesus’ death on the cross.  Try to describe the emotions he was feeling. Why do you think they were so strong and painful?
  3. What was the ultimate end result of Peter’s painful day?  How did Peter’s hard day become his hopeful day?
  4. How does knowing that God is sovereign and in control of EVERY aspect of your life, including the hard things, help to bring hope into even your most difficult times?
  5. In the context of this week’s sermon, what do you think it means to be “humble with God’s plan?”  Similarly, what does it mean to be “hopeful in God’s love?”
