Discussion Questions

  1. Why do you think the human heart is bent towards pride; always comparing ourselves to others, always seeking praise, and always wanting what we don’t have?  Why is it so important that we recognize this about ourselves?  How does social media prey upon this weakness within us?

  2. Aside from Jesus Christ, who is your role model and why?

  3. In our passage, Jesus defines the greatest as being the “youngest” and also teaches that a leader is “one who serves”.  Explain what you think Jesus meant by this and how it differs from the world’s perspective on human greatness.

  1. What is your definition of greatness? Is Jesus’ definition of greatness practical in today’s world? Explain.

  2. In spite of the disciples’ weaknesses (selfish self-seeking pride), they stayed with Jesus through thick and thin. Jesus thus recognizes their faithful perseverance and promises them an eternal reward.  How does this encourage you in your up-and-down walk with Christ?
